JFA provided a quick, efficient solution to a time critical problem. The presence of the European protected GCN on site was the key ecological issue, as well as project pressure to clear the site and commence construction as soon as possible. JFA put together a thorough licence application quickly, and the licence was granted by Natural England in October 2011.
Mitigation work included the sensitive clearance of herpetofauna from the development site, as well as habitat creation and enhancement. The first year of post development monitoring in 2015 found GCN are still present in and around the site. Monitoring will continue for an additional three years.
