Project Hospital re-development for residential use, War Memorial Hospital, Carshalton
Client Cluttons LLP
- Extended Phase 1 survey
- Protected species surveys – bats
JFA has carried out all ecological work on site since 2007. No evidence of protected species was found following an Extended Phase 1 Survey and further bat surveys, and the first two phases have successfully been granted planning permission and have undergone construction.
The final phase (converting the actual hospital building itself) required an update ecological survey to support the planning application during which a key issue was identified – a new brown long-eared bat (Plecotus auritus) roost in the main roof void. JFA were able to provide professional ecological advice of mitigation measures and recommendations for enhancements in order to provide a robust application that would be accepted by the LPA.
