The Person: JFA are seeking an Ecologist to support our Kent team. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in an appropriate environmental field, and will have one to three years of experience in the field surveying bats, reptiles, herpetofauna or water voles. Qualifications towards a GCN surveyor’s license would be an advantage.

Role: The position is a variety of field work and office work, including data analysis and report writing.  It requires both good numeracy and writing skills.  You will be expected to extend your knowledge base. JFA aim to support your consultancy career development through in-house training, external training and competence-based increases in responsibility. The role will include the following key tasks:

  • Undertake generalist and specialist field surveys (at habitat and species levels)
  • Organise and manage sub-contractors for field work
  • Meet with and advise site staff
  • Support Senior Staff through: Writing reports, using structure relevant to task/survey
  • Aid senior team in preparing protected species licences

Evaluation and Performance Indicators: At least annually the Ecologist will be evaluated for their effectiveness in their role. Performance indicators will include, but not be limited to:

  • Level of client satisfaction
  • Completion of jobs on time/budget
  • Team performance and satisfaction
